The Mission

To provide performance practitioners and sports coaches with the skills, tools and resources to take control of your well-being. Build a career which fits into the life you want to lead.

THE PATH LESS WALKED

My name is Josh Fletcher and I wanted to share a little bit of my story so you get an insight into how you ended up here and reading my story.

I have experienced the highest highs and lowest lows that the high-performance coaching industry can throw at a person. From Olympic medals to being sacked, from winning championships and promotions to burnout and bullying.

I often did not possess the skills to deal with the lows and I brushed the highs off in a relentless pursuit for more and better.

I was living on borrowed time.

Josh

MISTAKES WERE MADE

At 31 years old I finally reaped what I had been sewing for the last 5 years.

I burnt out. Mentally, physically and emotionally I was a mess. As a complete shadow of my former self, a person I knew, liked and trusted I had become totally disillusioned with the industry, cast aside friends and family, obsessed with ‘becoming the best I could be’.

It was like watching the worlds slowest train crash, everyone around me could see it coming apart from me. I had been foot down hard to the floor for 5 years and I just hit the wall hard.

I eventually realised that I had cast aside my happiness, health and wealth. And for what? I will never get those years back. But those mistakes give me the drive to support you in finding your work: life balance and creating professional sustainability.

FAIL FORWARDS

In my career I have been a lone ranger from the start, I forged my path and fumbled my way to success by failing thousands of times.

Every NO brought me closer to a YES. This image tells this story better than I ever could.

I usually fail hard and fail big when it happens, throughout my career this has always had a really significant impact on my personal well-being.

My background

My background is in High-Performance sport where I have been working as a Strength and Conditioning Coach and Performance Manager for 15 years. My career has been as weird and wonderful as it has been rewarding and painful.

My decisions have taken me around the globe and the pursuit of adventure and living outside my comfort zone steers me like a compass. I have spent time in the following roles and countries:

TIME TO REFLECT

On reflection I am grateful for a lot of the mistakes, failures, and rejections in my career, I would not have had the inspiration and poise to bring you the Career Blueprint. But the ride has been bumpy and the scars are still there.

This gives me the motivation to push for better awareness, support and prioritisation of your well-being. You are more than just a performance practitioner and it is time for your well-being to stop being an afterthought.

MY BELIEF

For most employers your well-being is an afterthought. That puts the onus on you to take control of it, for large parts of my life I didn’t do this and my work: life balance was way out of line and it hit me physically, mentally and emotionally.

There are phases and waves of effort in our careers where our priorities do shift around. But there needs to be a baseline of personal well-being. Simply put, your well-being needs to be one of your top priorities, so when things do get rough and tough you don’t get knocked down and can’t get back up.

Journal

TAKE BACK WHATS YOURS

Take control of your future by bringing your happiness, health and wealth to the front of your priority list. Invest in yourself and start to address the work:life balance. Break down you big long term goals into manageable daily actions and reap the rewards. Because you are more than just a performance practitioner and you deserve to be happy, healthy and wealthy.

This gives me the motivation to push for better awareness, support and prioritisation of your well-being. You are more than just a performance practitioner and it is time for your well-being to stop being an afterthought.
